"CAPTAIN KIRK" MORRISON
Personal Bio Links
**DTF offers our sincere congratulations to Kirk's most
recent handicapping
success,
as he and his
partner (John Balla) took down
the 'Last Chance'
qualifying contest from Las
Vegas' Red Rock Casino
- Wednesday, Jan. 27th.
When Kirk became an
official DTF follower, his overall timing, much
in the way of a successful decision, was
ideally placed; as he quickly took action
from Breeders' Cup Day, and
launched a sizeable win-type wager
upon the TOP RANKED HORSE in Race
11.
At closing odds of 10-1,
MUNY circled the turf course in wire-to-wire fashion;
returning $22.80 for every $2. "Captain Kirk", needless
to say, was quite pleased.
So GUNS A BLAZIN', and a
DTF Racecard in tow, Kirk strode into Oak
Tree's final Sunday of the '08 meet with eyes beset on some
good ol' Pick 6 action... Soon taking down his
winner's share of the Pick 6 pool not once, but twice;
including the Pick 5 consolation payoff (40 times).
"Thanks DTF" Kirk

THE WOMEN'S CLUB
Founding partner and DTF
Racecard follower, Jo-Ann Michelet,
spun her idea for "shared ownership" with 25 other women back
in September of 2008; only 20 shares were
eventually sold (5k per).
Each owner in partnership
is free and clear of monthly
trainer/vet bills... with natural hopes that
they can regain their initial investment along
the way.

HALL OF FAME JOCKEY
AGENT VINCE
DEGREGORY
and his star-studded
resume:
In 1964, his
first year as a rider, he was the leading apprentice in Panama, and
when Jorge Velasquez signed a contract with
owner Fred Hooper to ride in the U.S.
as
Braulio Baeza had done a few
years before Pincay became Panama's leading rider.
In 1966, he
also came north with Hooper and was under contract to him for three
years. Pincay was a superlative rider from the start here but did not become the
nation's top jockey until 1970, when he hired Vince DeGregory as his agent.
Then began his five-year reign as leading money-winner. They were a
show, Pincay and DeGregory, wherever they went.
There was the glib,
peripatetic DeGregory of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. movie-star suave and tall,
engaging, very savvy, a master at reading condition books
and charts and at finding the horses for Pincay to ride. And
there was Pincay, handsome and intense, with high Indian cheekbones and black
hair. No Sweat for
Laffit by William Nack
Vince DeGregory, Pincay's
agent in the early 1970s, recalls that he once gave Pincay a $10,000 check from a horse owner
and told him to give it to his
wife. Well, Pincay forgot to do that, and the check went through
the wash in his pants. Fortunately for Pincay,
the owner wrote a new check. This Is a Day
Pincay by Larry
Stewart
As stated from Vince
himself, one of his own personal crowns of grand achievement involved
Alex Solis and the Florida-to-California tack relocation. This
coastal transition soon brought forth the riding introduction
of Alex to the great Snow Chief.
Vince DeGregory, a DTF follower since 2007, has just recently secured the riding book of Golden Gate's promising new apprentice, Alex Gonzalez, who promptly racked up 64 wins and $764,226 in purse
earnings. Along with Alex Gonzalez, Vince continues to manage the winning consistency of journeyman rider Alonso Quinonez.
